Undersheriff Harold Martin

Undersheriff Harold Martin has been a member of the Kendall County Sheriff’s Office since 2015. He has direct oversight of the Corrections Division, Records Division, and Training.

He has been in Law Enforcement for just over 41 years, having spent over 56 years in Kendall County. He spent his first 4 years as a police officer in the Village of Newark, Illinois. He was then hired by the Yorkville Police Department, where he spent the next 31 years the last 9 years as Chief of Police before he retired in 2010. He was then hired as the Police Chief of Pilot Point, Texas for a period of 2 years before being hired as the Police Chief of Manhattan, Illinois for 3 years. He brings with him a strong back ground in reorganization and facilitating change within Law Enforcement Agencies.

Undersheriff Martin graduated from Newark High School in Newark, Illinois. He attended Aurora University where he graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Professional Studies, as well as received a Diploma in Criminal Justice Management. In 2007 he received his Masters of Arts Degree in Law Enforcement Justice Administration from Western Illinois University. He is also a graduate of Northwestern Illinois University Center for Public Safety, School of Staff and Command.
He strongly believes in the Goals and Objectives Sheriff Baird has set for the Kendall County Sheriff’s Office, they are as follows:

 • Fiscally Accountable, Provide Training and Education, Juvenile Outreach, Updated General Orders, Policies, and Procedures, Modernize the Sheriff’s Office, Create True Transparency, Provide Community Oriented Policing Culture, Insure Accountability, Specialized Divisions, Independent Inspector General Office, Manpower Allocation, and Inspire Countywide Collaboration and Coordination.
