VA Claim & Benefit Assistance
The VAC veteran service officers of Kendall County will assist you with your Department of Veteran Affairs claims. These claims for non-service connected or service-connected afflictions will be processed in a professional and compassionate manner. You, the veteran, helped assure our freedoms and it is our responsibility to give back. The task that’s ahead of you will never be as great as the power that’s behind you.
You have earned the right to request us to process your VA claims for benefits such as general healthcare, VA hospitalization, prescription service, compensation, pensions, home loans, education, and death/burial benefits such as headstones, national cemeteries, and presidential certificates. And, we will honor that right by processing your claim in the most expedient manner possible. We will answer your questions, prepare the needed documents, help you secure any necessary supporting documents, and provide follow-up services on your pending claim. We will assist you with the process of obtaining certified copies of your DD Form-214 or report of separation if you served prior to 01/01/1950.
Veterans Assistance Eligibility & Application
The veteran service officers in Kendall County VAC office are your advocates. If you are an honorably discharged veteran, we will assist in determining if you are eligible to receive veteran’s assistance. Our Commission will work with you to procure benefits in such areas as job search, public aid, and social security disability. If you qualify, we pick up where all other agencies leave off by providing limited fixed rate benefits consisting of the bare necessities of life such as shelter, utilities, and food allowances. However, our program is not intended as an ongoing support program that can be utilized for a considerable length of time.
During the comprehensive application process, there is a list of documentation that you will be required to furnish including a copy of your discharge. If you are unemployed you MUST bring your Job Service documents with you. If you are not employable due to a medical condition you MUST produce your application for Social Security Disability and VA unemployability. Intended applicants who are currently receiving any form of aid from any other government agency are not eligible to receive full assistance from our office. We won’t tolerate duplication of benefits because redundancy is a waste of the tax payer’s money.
If you intend to file an application, please call ahead for an appointment as this can be time consuming. Once you’ve made your appointment, return to this website and click on “What Documentation To Bring With You”. There you will find a list of items you will need to furnish in order to begin the application process. You’ll be granted 15 business days to complete the process from the initial filing date.
