| The testing process for a Patrol Deputy and/or Correctional Deputy for the Kendall County Sheriff's Office is as follows:
A few weeks before a testing process will begin, we will advertise in local papers
The first step in the process will be to complete an application/background packet to be used for your background investigation. This is an important part of the testing process and needs to be filled out accurately and honestly. This background packet is used by the Sheriff’s Office to determine if your background permits you to work for this office. Along with this packet, please attach photocopies of personal documents such as your Birth Certificate, Social Security Card, Drivers License, Military DD214, School Transcripts, Specialized Training Certificates, and Naturalization Papers if applicable. There will also be a twenty-five (25) dollar filing fee that must be turned with the application/background packet.
When you turn in your background packet you will be given information regarding the physical agility test and you will need to bring picture identification, preferably your driver’s license. Providing you pass the agility testing, you will be given instructions at the physical agility, for the written examination.
Providing you successfully complete the written examination, you will then be called for an oral interview. Those that pass the interview will then go to the next phase of the testing process which would be an extensive background investigation. After the background investigation a second interview may take place.
From the outcome of these background checks and/or second interviews, an eligibility list will be established. This list is good for eighteen (18) months from the date of the written exam. When the Sheriff’s Office is ready to offer you a position, you will be called and instructed where to report for psychological and medical examinations. Upon successful completion of those examinations, you will be given a hire date and will begin your career with the Kendall County Sheriff’s Office.
If the Sheriff’s Office is not currently accepting applications and you would like to participate in the testing process you can complete a “preliminary application”. A preliminary application is a short form that asks for basic information, such as your full name, address, telephone number, date of birth, etc. You may obtain a preliminary application by coming into the Sheriff's Office during regular business hours, or if you live out of state, you may contact the Human Resource Manager for specific instructions at (630) 553-7500 extension 1115. You may fill out a preliminary application at any time.
When you turn in a preliminary application, it will be kept on file until the Sheriff’s Office announces they will be hiring. You will then be notified by mail that the Sheriff’s Office is hiring for Patrol and/or Corrections and it is up to you to fill out the appropriate application. |
