Landline telephone users pay a surcharge of $ .75 cents per line on all wireline (home and business) telephone bills. This rate was established in November, 1988 by the voters of Kendall County passing a county-wide referendum. This rate only affects landline telephone users. Wireless users pay a surcharge of $ .73 cents per line. This is a state-wide rate established under the Wireless Emergency Telephone Safety Act [50 ILCS 751/]. Funds are collected by the State of Illinois and distributed by the Illinois Commerce Commission to the 9-1-1 centers, or Public Safety Answering Points (PSAP's).
