Richard Young Forest Preserve	Trail Map

The Richard Young Forest Preserve is located on Route 71 about 2 miles east of Route 47. Young and the adjacent Lyon Forest Preserve protect 177 acres of open space, and 2.88 miles of trails.

The shelter at Richard Young is available for rental, and features a fire ring and a grill.

Young contains oak-maple woodlands, seeps, restored prairies, and the meandering Lyon Creek. An astounding 430+ native plant species make the Young and Lyon preserves their home, including a number of endangered and threatened species. .

Young is a great place for a long hike to enjoy the sights and sounds of the woods. Footpaths (many are ADA accessible), overlook decks and interpretive signage allow visitors to experience the nature of this preserve.
