In December of 2011, the Kendall County Board adopted the Kendall County Community Economic Development Plan. The creation of this Economic Development Plan originated from a county-wide survey of Kendall County residents conducted in the summer of 2010 by the County’s Regional Plan Commission. Results from the survey indicated that one of the most prevalent concerns of the residents is the lack of employment options within the County. Kendall County took a proactive approach to this issue by developing a short-range Economic Development plan that focuses on non-retail as well as entrepreneurial development throughout the entire Kendall County community. The Plan also includes continued support to the existing local Economic Development efforts on a regional level.
Within the Economic Development Plan is a Work Implementation Plan that outlines how the County’s strategic initiatives will be applied to achieve the purpose and goals of the Economic Development Plan. The Work Implementation Plan is separated into with three levels. Level One initiatives are considered immediately and are needed ideally before any further actions take place. Level Two do not have the same immediate attention as priorities classified as level one yet these priorities must take place before other further actions can be addressed. Level three priorities can wait to be implemented if other strategies and goals are sought after first because some of the priorities in level three may require additional funding or even more assembly from other agencies before they can be implemented or even begun.
