Autopsies

When death occurs and the circumstances surrounding the death are suspicious or unclear an autopsy will generally be performed to establish the exact cause of death. An autopsy is an examination of the body both externally and internally. Autopsies are performed at the Kendall County Morgue by a Forensic Pathologist. A forensic pathologist is a medical physician who specializes in deaths that were possibly crime-related. At the discretion of the Coroner and/or Pathologist supplementary testing such as toxicology, histology, radiology, etc. may be performed to aid in determining the cause of death.
