AVAILABILITY OF FILES

All records, except those impounded by statute or order of the court are open to the public during business hours 8:00 A.M. to 4:30 P.M. Monday through Friday. Except legal holidays.

Records impounded or restricted by statute are: Adoptions, Mental Health and Juvenile and individual cases in other case categories impounded by court order. A court order is required to view or to get copies from an impounded file.

Many of our old records and probate cases filed from the 1800’s to early 1900’s are stored in secured areas not readily accessible. However we do have the indexes for older records available in our public access viewing area. If you need to view one of these records please make arrangements by calling 630-553-4183. Advanced notice is required to obtain these files.
